Required Driver’s Education Presentations

Required Driver’s Education Presentations
Hanover County Public Schools LogoDear High School Families,

We hope you had a great start to the school year. We are writing today to share information on driver’s education presentations we will hold this year.

Beginning last school year, there were several updates to the requirements students must meet prior to receiving their license. All Virginia students enrolled in Driver’s Education are required by Virginia law to attend a presentation to learn important information about rules and regulations that apply specifically to teen drivers. Please note that students must attend a presentation prior to beginning their Behind the Wheel experience. For your convenience, we have scheduled multiple opportunities at each of our high schools so that you can select a session that best meets your schedule. Registration instructions are included below.

We will hold these presentations as follows:

- Wednesday, September 20, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Hanover High School
- Thursday, September 21, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Mechanicsville High School
- Saturday, September 30, 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Patrick Henry High School
- Wednesday, October 18, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Hanover High School
- Thursday, October 19, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Mechanicsville High School
- Wednesday, November 8, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Atlee High School
- Wednesday, January 17, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Atlee High School
- Tuesday, February 6, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Patrick Henry High School
- Saturday, March 23, 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Hanover High School

Please note the following:

You must pre-register to attend one of the presentations by completing this form. Please note that students must know their HCPS Google email account to register.
- You may attend a presentation at any of our high schools and are not limited to just the presentations at your home school.
- It is highly recommended that students are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If you have any questions, please contact your student’s Driver’s Education teacher or Brittany Moore, Health and Physical Education and Driver Education Curriculum Specialist, at [email protected].

Thank you.
